Second-hand goods: a booming market
In 2022, two out of three Quebecers participated in the second-hand economy*. The latter is one of the pillars of the circular economy: a production and consumption model that involves sharing, reusing, repairing, renovating and recycling existing products and materials for as long as possible, so that they retain their value.
Motivated by the savings to be made in a context of inflation, this trend not only gives objects a new lease of life, but also helps to limit waste and enable us to adopt more responsible ways of consuming. The repurposing process extends the life of items while offering them at a more affordable price. It’s a win-win situation!
The Little Brothers Boutiques, a unique concept
Located in the heart of Montreal’s Plateau Mont-Royal, the two Little Brothers Boutiques offer a vast array of top-quality second-hand items at friendly prices. Clothing, jewelry, toys, books and even furniture…the Boutiques offer new arrivals of unique items every day, to suit all tastes and budgets.
All proceeds are donated to the Little Brothers Foundation to support its work and break the isolation of seniors in Quebec. So, by shopping in our two boutiques, you’re helping to make a difference in your community.
An initiative for a good cause
As part of the clothing detox challenge last March, we were delighted to invite local content creators to discover our Boutiques in order to share the benefits of second-hand clothing and encourage their respective communities to give us the clothes they no longer wear.
Through their publications, they invited us to rethink the way we consume clothes, and proposed ideas for repairing, transforming or even rearranging them.
All for a good cause: to break the isolation of Quebec’s seniors.
