Every Donation is Important in the Fight against the Social Isolation of Seniors

For more than 30 years, the Fondation Marcelle and Jean Coutu has supported the organization in its work with seniors. Initially dedicated to the holiday program and the Domaine Juliette Huot, the Foundation’s support has since been used to carry out various operations put in place during the pandemic. This foundation supports Little Brother’s global mission and is determined to have an impact on the isolation experienced by far too many elderly people.

In keeping with its vision to invest in the community to improve the lives of vulnerable seniors, Quebecor has been supporting Little Brothers since 1999. The media coverage over the years has given Little Brothers many opportunities to highlight the plight of seniors in Quebec, and the show Une chance qu’on s’a in 2020 generated $1 million in donations from the general public.

Desjardins is based on values of mutual aid and solidarity. The financial company has been supporting Little Brothers for 30 years, notably through several benefit activities, and has been the honorary president of the IMAX benefit event for more than 20 years, helping to raise nearly $1.5 million in the Quebec business community.

The Fondation JA DeSève pays particular attention to organizations whose mission is to provide direct assistance and support to people in need. As such, it has financed various Little Brothers’ initiatives in the field: the creation of the Montérégie team, the development of Montreal’s Quartier Sud program and, more recently, the deployment of the Near You team (formerly Friendly Voice).

Philanthropist Louis Garneau has been an ongoing supporter of the organization’s work since 1995. A portion of his donations is dedicated to the “Vacation Stays” program at the Little Brothers’ cottage in St-Joseph Lake, which officially became the Paul-Garneau Cottage in 2016, in honor of his father. Very attached to family values and recognizing the fundamental role of seniors in our society, Mr. Louis Garneau wanted to offer a stay in a bucolic place to his “Old Friends”.

The Joly-Messier Foundation has been a supporter of Little Brothers since its inception, when it made its first donation to our organization and it was the largest amount received by Little Brothers in many years. The generosity of the Joly-Messier Foundation has allowed Little Brothers to revise and promote their matchmaking process to their current and potential volunteers to significantly increase the number of Great Friends benefiting from a relationship that provides lasting benefits.

The Blain-Favreau Foundation is a testamentary trust established upon the death of Dr. Lorenzo Paul Favreau in 2012, whose mission is to support organizations that help the elderly who are destitute, in need of shelter, hospitalized or unable to care for themselves. Since 2016, she has supported Little Brothers’ initiatives to surround isolated seniors in Quebec with a loving and committed family until the end of their life.

After much careful, strategic consideration, the Grace Dart Foundation has chosen to partner with Little Brothers to reach isolated English-speaking seniors and those from culturally diverse communities. This long-term gesture of trust will allow Little Brothers to further their support and community outreach programs with isolated seniors.

Le Groupe Maurice has been supporting Little Brothers for ten years now, and it is through its Foundation that it continues to support their work with the most isolated members of society. The Groupe Maurice team is a firm believer in supporting citizen action and actively takes part in activities alongside Little Brothers field teams in seniors’ residences: delivering meal boxes at Christmas, books or other gifts, the Luc Maurice Foundation never forgets Little Brothers’ Great Friends!
