For many, Christmas means gathering together, laughter and tables filled with food. But for many isolated older adults, this season can instead mean quiet days and memories.
At Little Brothers, every Christmas Eve becomes a promise: to rebuild connections, offer warmth and remind each Great Friend that they are part of a larger family.
“I couldn’t believe the volunteers would take time on December 25 itself to come pick us up!”
— Mrs. Marchand, Great Friend
When volunteer light brightens December 25
Across Québec, hundreds of volunteers choose to spend Christmas alongside Great Friends. Some host them for dinner, others deliver meals, decorate halls or accompany someone to their local celebration.
“The lights, the music… it’s beautiful. We feel like children again!” says Mrs. Marchand, her eyes shining.

Her volunteer, Sylvie, smiles:
“It’s precious to witness that joy, to feel like we’re part of something bigger.”
Every gesture reminds us that the most meaningful gift isn’t found under the tree — it’s shared through presence.
Holiday celebrations that bring people together
Each year, Little Brothers organizes around fifteen celebrations across Québec: community meals, home visits, gift deliveries and personalized calls. These moments allow thousands of older adults to experience a Christmas surrounded by care, attention and humanity.

Beyond the decorations and lights, these gatherings carry the very heart of our mission: creating lasting bonds and offering compassionate presence for life.
Break isolation this holiday season
Once again this year, we invite everyone who wishes to do so to take a meaningful step of solidarity. Because the memories that warm the hearts of our Great Friends begin with you.
