Little Brothers of Saint-Jérôme: 5 years of solidarity and support for seniors

On November 1, 2024, our Saint-Jérôme team celebrated 5 years of solidarity with the region’s seniors, marking five years of shared moments and caring support. This simple yet warm event brought together volunteers, Great Friends and partners to look back on five years of dedicated support and bonds forged over time.

In her speech, Catherine Harel Bourdon, CEO of Little Brothers, highlighted the impact of our presence in the Saint-Jérôme community since 2019. Today, 54 seniors are accompanied in this region thanks to the commitment of 62 volunteers who, through their actions, break the social isolation of the elderly. “Together, we can ensure that the last stage of their lives is more serene and filled with human warmth,” expressed Catherine, recalling the value of every smile, every visit and every shared moment.

Alongside Catherine Harel Bourdon, several special guests honored this important anniversary with their presence. Sonia Bélanger, Minister of Seniors and Deputy for Prévost, Youri Chassin, Deputy for Saint-Jérôme, and Jean-Junior Désormeaux, Saint-Jérôme city councillor, all emphasized the importance of Little Brothers’ mission in the region.

A community of solidarity to break isolation

The anniversary was marked by a sharing of anecdotes and memories, creating moments of laughter and complicity between participants, reflecting the unique bonds built up over the years. The day concluded with a collective snack, prolonged in a convivial atmosphere that testified to everyone’s commitment to our organization’s mission.

A moment of recognition and gratitude

One of the highlights of the celebration was the unveiling of a magnificent cake proudly bearing the number “5”, symbolizing the importance of the anniversary. The cake, shared in a convivial atmosphere, brought together all the participants in a moment of complicity and sharing. The General Manager of the Centre d’action bénévole (CAB) de Saint-Jérôme, Louise Sutterlin, a loyal accomplice since the beginning, was also present to underline this shared commitment to seniors.

A particularly moving moment was the presentation of a certificate of recognition from the National Assembly to Daniel Brunet, coordinator of Little Brothers Saint-Jérôme, by Deputy Youri Chassin. The certificate honors his exemplary dedication to the region’s isolated seniors.

Participant testimonials and impressions

The testimonials gathered from the volunteers and Great Friends in attendance added a personal and touching dimension to this day of celebration. Many shared anecdotes from their own lives, recounting the highlights of their experience with Little Brothers of Saint-Jérôme.

Thank you to all those who contributed to this wonderful celebration, and to our collaborators and local partners who are part of our network of solidarity, essential to the well-being of seniors in Saint-Jérôme.
