On the cold evening of December 16, 2023, Mr. Messier, a Great Friend of Little Brothers, enjoyed a wonderful experience offered by the City of Trois-Rivières. The opportunity was exceptional: to attend a game of the Trois-Rivières Lions, an ice hockey team affiliated with the Montreal Canadiens (NHL) and the Laval Rocket (AHL).
For Mr. Messier and his companions, the evening at the Colisée Vidéotron was much more than just a field hockey match. The City of Trois-Rivières showed remarkable openness and kindness towards the four volunteers and seven Great Friends present that evening.
A special evening
The feast they were offered was worthy of the occasion: hot dogs, fries, drinks and many other delicacies enhanced this special moment. For them, the experience wasn’t just a field hockey game, it was a celebration of life.
In a warm testimonial, Mr. Messier expresses his gratitude: “This outing enabled me to break my isolation, to see Great Friends I had met on vacation in Oka and at celebrations, and to be well surrounded by the team of volunteers: Martin, Jean-Claude, my driver André, and three other kind people whose names escape me.
Your generosity changes lives
This event shows the power of small gestures and a community’s ability to warm hearts. The City of Trois-Rivières and the Lions have created much more than just a field hockey match, they’ve given Mr. Messier and his companions an unforgettable memory, a glimmer of happiness in their lives.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved! Without your generosity, we wouldn’t be able to organize all these wonderful moments that enable isolated seniors to rediscover the joy of life, meet new people and forge meaningful bonds that break the solitude.
