Little Brothers pay tribute to their patron, Béatrice Picard

PRESS RELEASE

With deep emotion, Little Brothers honor the memory of Béatrice Picard, the organization’s devoted patron since 2007 and a legendary figure of Quebec theatre, television, and cinema.

For nearly 20 years, Ms. Picard carried our mission with generosity, conviction, and heartfelt dedication. Deeply committed to the cause of socially isolated older adults, she affectionately referred to those we accompany as “her stars.”

“Stars are old—they’ve been shining for a long time. We don’t always see them, but we know they’re there,” she would say.

Her legacy is immense: thanks to her, our cause has touched the hearts of thousands across Quebec. Her unwavering commitment helped bring greater recognition to older adults in our society and inspired generations of volunteers and donors to take action in breaking social isolation.

“Béatrice Picard embodied, for nearly two decades, the values of respect, dignity, and solidarity that we uphold every day. Her commitment will forever be part of the collective memory of Little Brothers,” said Catherine Harel-Bourdon, President and CEO of Little Brothers.

A warm and familiar presence at countless events over the years, Ms. Picard built genuine bonds with the older adults and volunteers of our organization through her kindness, simplicity, and deep respect for everyone she met.

“Béatrice was an inspiring woman, generous with her time and profoundly committed to the cause of older adults. I was fortunate to share joyful moments with her during our journey together at Little Brothers,” said Marie-Thérèse Fortin, actress and spokesperson for Little Brothers.

In the fall of 2024, Little Brothers created the Béatrice Picard Award, which was first presented to Ms. Picard herself in recognition of her extraordinary commitment. The award will carry her legacy forward by being presented each year to celebrate the indispensable contributions of volunteers aged 65 and over.

We extend our deepest condolences to her sons, her family, her friends, the artistic community, and to everyone who loved and admired her.

To honor her memory, donations can be made in support of Little Brothers’ mission at littlebrothers.ca.
