Holiday spirit lasts all year long thanks to volunteers

Across Quebec, Little Brothers’ teams are in great need of the volunteers who enable them to pursue their mission with lonely and isolated seniors. On this International Day of Volunteers, our President and CEO sends them a special message to thank them for brightening the lives of our Great Friends.

“I’m speaking to you who are volunteers,

I hope you’re all warm and cozy, enjoying the pleasures of winter, good food and music.

I’d like to confide in you that, as the holidays approach, I’m thrilled to be marking this important time of year with the entire Little Brothers family for the very first time. Having been in post since last August, I’m looking forward to the festive gatherings and meals to come in your company and that of our Great Friends!

Is this your first holiday season with our organization? Or is it a tradition you’ve cherished for several editions now? Whatever it is, I can feel that we’re linked by something special in the air: the joyful melodies everywhere, the joy of preparations and illuminated decorations, the time to spend in good company that’s approaching, the year that’s coming to an end…

There are so many comforting things that make me appreciate this time of year that I can’t possibly list all the things that contribute to the holiday spirit. But having worked with you, I know that volunteering is at the top of the list.

At this time of year, thousands of you are helping each other, giving of your time, answering the call to dispel the gloom and loneliness of our Great Friends during the holiday season. To me, this is truly the best gift to give.

What warms my heart even more is knowing that you brighten the lives of lonely seniors every day of the year with your smiles and generous gestures. You spread your caring energy at every opportunity.

On behalf of the entire Little Brothers team, wherever you are in Quebec, I thank you for these small and large daily miracles!

I wish you a happy holiday season.”
