As the Canada Post strike continues, its consequences are significantly affecting Little Brothers and other community organizations. With the holiday season approaching—a period when over 30% of annual donations are made—the disruptions to postal services are complicating our activities and slowing our ability to support isolated seniors.
Concrete Impacts on Our Efforts
Delays in receiving cheque donations and disruptions in our direct mail campaigns are directly compromising our mission. These traditional methods, essential for reaching many donors, play a key role in funding our activities and sustaining our community of support.
Did you know that 5% of annual donations are made on December 31 alone? These last-minute contributions are critical to funding our services. This year, these donations could be compromised by the current situation.
“The seniors we support rely on our services to break their isolation. Every donation counts to help us continue being there for them,” states Catherine Harel Bourdon, President and CEO of Les Petits Frères.
A Call to Action for Decision-Makers and the Community
To overcome these challenges, Little Brothers, along with the Fondation des jeunes de la DPJ, the Fondation pour l’alphabétisation, and Marie-Vincent, have united their voices in a letter addressed to ministers and opposition leaders.
“We have a distinct role to play in clearly illustrating the impacts on our operations and the vulnerable individuals we serve. We hope our collective efforts will lead to rapid and appropriate solutions,” adds Catherine Harel Bourdon.
