10 years of solidarity for Little Brothers of Pointe-de-l’Île

It was with great emotion and pride that we celebrated the 10th anniversary of Little Brothers of Pointe-de-l’Île of Montreal on November 16. This milestone event brought together volunteers, Great Friends and dignitaries to celebrate a decade of support for isolated seniors in our community.

A celebration marked by inspiring presences

We were honored to welcome several distinguished guests, including Catherine Harel Bourdon, President and CEO of Little Brothers. She was accompanied by Chantal Rouleau, MNA for Pointe-aux-Trembles and Minister of Social Solidarity and Community Action, Caroline Bourgeois, Mayor of the Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles borough, and councillors Marie-Claude Baril and Daphney Colin. These influential figures underlined the importance of the work accomplished by Little Brothers, and testified to their unwavering support for our mission.

Words of gratitude

In her speech, Catherine Harel Bourdon emphasized:
“Today, we celebrate 10 years of solidarity and sharing with isolated seniors, whom we call our Great Friends, in the Pointe-de-l’Île sector (…) We are here to celebrate what brings us together: mutual aid, sharing and empathy. These simple gestures we make for our neighbors – everyday acts that often transform lives.”

She also thanked Marie-Sophie Girard, Area Coordinator, and the 60 dedicated volunteers who support 77 Great Friends. Their daily presence and commitment are at the heart of Little Brothers’ impact.

An unforgettable moment for all

The day was punctuated by moving testimonials. A Great Friend shared:
“Today is a beautiful moment. Sunny day, new friends. Everything’s going well. The exchanges are interesting. See you soon and see you at Christmas!”

This simple, heartfelt testimonial perfectly illustrates the essence of our mission: to break solitude and create meaningful connections.

A huge thank you to everyone present and involved for 10 years of precious moments and solidarity. Together, we will continue to make a difference in the lives of isolated seniors. Happy 10th anniversary to Little Brothers of Pointe-de-l’Île!
